The artists who contributed to this and previous editions of Earth’s
Dynamic Systems deserve special recognition. William L. Chesser executed
the drawings for the first edition. Many of his fine illustrations have been
digitally remastered and reappear here. Robert Pack, Dale Claflin, Russell
McMullin, Barney McKay Design Group, and James Miller prepared figures for
previous editions, many of which are included in this revision. Rick
Showalter and Keryn Ross prepared numerous new illustrations for this
edition. Kirsten Thompson did much of the page layout and design, and
Kim
Sullivan helped keep the computers running. The staff at Prentice Hall
played a critical role in the development of this edition: Patrick Lynch,
Susan Fisher, Chris Rapp, and Melanie van Benthuesen. We also acknowledge
the cooperation of Pearson Education/Prentice Hall in allowing us to
present this version on the web.
